How to recover from exhaustion

Most people don’t really know how to recover from exhaustion

When you’re not sleeping very well and exhaustion sets in, you need to look after yourself properly.

Healthy sleep has been empirically proven to be the single most important determinant in predicting longevity, more important than diet, exercise or heredity”  William C. Dement

He’s right, no sleep, and I am a zombie, no good to man or beast.

Because, if you’ve ever missed a night’s sleep, you’ll know what I am talking about.

If you feel like you’re going to drop any minute now if you don’t somehow get some sleep, I’ve got something very cool for you!  It’s called Yoga Sleep.  Yoga Sleep is an incredible rest and relaxation tool because of it’s ability to get you into a deeply surrendered state.

It’s best if you let me guide you, but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy peasy!

The ancient yogis were super intelligent and knew the importance of profound rest.  Why these days, we think we can get away with a ridiculous pace of life, I have no idea.  Where an earth is the balance?

I found out the hard way.  I ended up a complete mess and it took me years to get over it.  Now Yoga Sleep, or Nidra, as those clever yogis call it, is a daily part of my life.  I ALWAYS do this after my practice, and if for any reason I can’t practice yoga postures and breathing. I do Nidra.  I snuggle myself up in warm blankets and drift off into another world!

People often ask how to recover from exhaustion, I tell them Yoga Nidra

Don’t get me wrong. Nidra is not a substitute for sleep, but after 45 mins of this practice and you’ll almost feel like you had a good nights sleep last night.

You’ll find my Yoga sleep in Insight Timer below!

One you’ve got the audio, put a do not disturb notice on your door.  Next get yourself into your favourite cosy clothes or your pyjamas. Switch me on and just let your body float and dissolve into the earth.

By the way collapsing on the sofa in front of the TV is not the same as this cuddly, soothing practice.

You need to rest your mind.  Surfing the internet or watching a movie will get your mind racing around.  You need to shut yourself away where you’ll get some peace and quiet and journey inwards.

Then, you’ll get some well deserved rest.  Happy Yoga Nidra.
